At BrokerLink, corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives are important to us. Our employees are passionate about giving back to local communities in areas such as health and wellness, education, environmental sustainability and arts and culture. From helping to provide food and shelter to those less fortunate, to running marathons that raise money to fight diseases, BrokerLink’s CSR efforts continue to touch the lives of Canadians on a daily basis.
Two of BrokerLink’s major CSR initiatives each year are the United Way and Raising the Roof campaigns. Through staff initiated fundraising activities, as well as employee contributions, BrokerLink proudly raised $72,000 for United Way in 2014. Matched by the Intact Foundation, the total amount raised this year is $144,000. These funds will support United Way’s efforts in building stronger, healthier communities throughout the country.
In 2013, BrokerLink’s Raising the Roof campaign raised $6,200, which went towards finding long-term solutions to end homelessness in Canada. Through toque sales and other staff initiated fundraising, BrokerLink employees enthusiastically dedicated their time and efforts to helping community members in need. Stay tuned to our website for details on our 2014 Raising the Roof campaign results.
This past year, various BrokerLink branches also participated in a number of initiatives focused on fostering positive youth development. The Brantford, Ontario branch participated in “Pink Shirt Day,” in February, helping to raise awareness about bullying. In Windsor, Ontario, BrokerLink employees volunteered in a telethon to raise money for Easter Seals, an organization that assists children with physical disabilities. In Alberta, the Airdrie, Carstairs, Crossfield and Cochrane branches helped Crossfield Elementary School organize the Annual Spring Fling dance, which serves as a fundraiser for the school’s extracurricular activities.
Other CSR initiatives saw BrokerLink employees literally going the extra mile, with runs, walks and bike-a-thons such as the CIBC Run for the Cure and Juvenile Diabetes Ride Foundation Ride for Diabetes. Employees also took to the golf course to fundraise, participating in Golf Fore the Girls tournament in Huntsville, Ontario, which raised money for the digital mammography unit at the Huntsville District Hospital.
Finally, BrokerLink employees proved they could keep their cool while standing up for a cause, by participating in the popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. This bone-chilling initiative supported the fight against ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
In addition to the initiatives noted above, BrokerLink branches across Canada continued to support food banks through numerous food bank drives throughout the year.
BrokerLink is proud of its employee efforts in supporting local communities and will continue to uphold this commitment.
