BrokerLink employees were spinning with team spirit on Friday, September 19, when staff from numerous Ontario branches participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Ride Foundation (JDRF) Ride for Diabetes Research. This event was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where BrokerLink staff participated in the Insurance Companies Challenge portion.

Ontario employees banded together in the annual bike-a-thon, which fundraises for JDRF. Led by team captain Pete Weightman, Yonge Street representatives participated as the “B-Linkers” team, while John Tsarvenkov captained “Tour de BrokerLink”, made up of staff from the Aurora, Peterborough and Newcastle locations.

“The BrokerLink teams raised over $2,600 for this worthwhile cause,” said Linda Robinson, Executive Assistant. “The Kitchener branch is also supporting JDRF through another event and we know they’ll be great!”

JDRF is an indoor bike-a-thon where participants are challenged to ride stationary bikes for extended periods of time. Raised funds go towards type one diabetes research and treatment costs. This year, JDRF is being held in 22 locations across Canada, with a national fundraising goal of $7.05 million.
