Intact Insurance has announced they have entered into a partnership with Turo, an online peer-to-peer car rental marketplace which was recently launched in Canada.
Founded in 2009, Turo allows car owners to rent out their vehicle to others utilizing an online marketplace.
With Turo, car owners can set the price they would like to ‘rent’ their vehicle for, while renters can get access to vehicles for every occasion and budget. Turo differs from the ride-sharing company Uber, in that Uber offers ride sharing which involves driving passengers in your personal vehicle for compensation.
Existing car insurance policy holders with Intact Insurance, belairdirect, and Jevco in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec will be eligible to participate in Turo once they have spoken to their broker.
Customers with policies through Intact Insurance, Jevco, or belairdirect, who choose to list their vehicle on Turo will receive a $100 incentive cheque. Vehicles must be rented within the first 90 days of registration to be eligible for this offer. This offer is valid until August 31, 2016. Visit the Turo website for more details.
