There are a lot of decisions to be made when buying a new car, including what colour your ride should be.

Did you know, the most popular car colour in North America is white? 21% of owners choose this clean, crisp colour. Coming in a close second, 19% of car owners choose black cars. Here’s where some other colours rank according to a recent survey:

  • Silver and grey (16% each)
  • Red (10%)
  • Blue (8%)
  • Natural (7%)
  • Green (3%)

Have you ever heard that red cars are more expensive to insure? That’s actually a common auto insurance myth. In reality, your insurance premium is determined far more by driver details and how the car is being used: driving record, experience and commute distance. Insurers also consider your car’s make and model, age, body type and engine size, but don’t factor in colour.
